The failed programme --Teaching Maths and Science in English

As many have known that the government, especially the Ministry of Education is controlled by a bunche of people who know how to eat but not to think.

Take a look of it, 6 years since the programme started by Dr M, and 6 years later we still hear the excuse the teacher cannot control the language, so called English, though the terms are not in English, mostly are in Latin and Greek.

What kind of lame excuse, 6 years to master his/her area of content and still cannot do it. If the ministry of Education would issue the warning, who could master the language of content in 3 years have to vacant the seat for the ones who can, be a clerk in the school or a sweeper. I am very sure they will learn it.

Now the silly mininstry is throwing millions of ringgit for the 'teachers' and no result yield. We ask the pupils to yield result but never ask the teachers to do the same too.

It is a rubbish to accept the reason that the results are not good as the teachers are not able to teach in English.

Look at the bilingual system in Thailand.

Besides, do not equate learning Maths and Science in English will improve the English language, which is a wrong concept, however, there is a help.

If giving more periods can ensure the quality and standard of English , let us do it this way, the vice versa, provides more periods of learning for Bahasa Melayu, the rest of the subjects are conducted in English language. Isn't this the feasible way ? If the theory prove to be true.

Use the upper head to think lah.

Leave the government posts if you do not know how to budget your salary

When i read about this report, it shocked me that the government servants almost half of them are rotten apples.

If they know cut the clothes according to the height, they should know that. All proverbs hava that enlighten sayings but the governement servants are so rot that they did not know the values of jimat berjimat.

Why pay the monthly installment when you know you have to pay the interest. No free lunch in the world.

Now Cuepacs is not teaching them a lesson but supporting them to work out of the office. Will the standard of word be maintained when one is over working ?

Not high pay but drive big car, with high cost of furniture sets at home, enjoy the fast food in the shopping mall.

Fine, they cannot gain more pay, then quit and go to private sectors, why hang on to the government jobs.

Relingush the post and let the more capable and more country loving Malaysians to do the jobs.

KUALA LUMPUR: Heads of ministries and departments should be humane in dealing with civil servants who are in debt, Cuepacs secretary-general Ahmad Shah Mohd Zin said Sunday.
He said this group of workers needed "special attention as they may be vulnerable to corruption and moonlighting."
Almost 450,000 of the civil servants were in debt and their take home salary was less than 40 percent of their monthly pay, he said, adding that the bulk of their salaries was deducted at source as payment for various loans housing, cars, renovations, education and hospitalisation.
Cuepacs' stand was that these officers needed to be "rehabilitated" before any disciplinary action was taken against them, he told Bernama.
"What is happening now is that the heads of department usually find the easy way out by taking disciplinary action, like stopping of increment, denying promotions and suspension from duty, thus aggravating the situation."
Under the General Orders, disciplinary action can be taken against civil servants if their take home salary is less than 40 percent of the gross pay.
Ahmad Shah said there were hundreds of civil servants who were moonlighting as taxi drivers, petty traders, direct sales agents and watchmen to make ends meet.
Although the government was aware of the situation and had taken some positive steps like giving them official permission to work part-time, it was not enough, he said.
"The high cost of living, especially in the urban areas, is eating into their income, thus causing them to be constantly in debt," he added.
Federation of Malaysian Consumer Associations (Fomca) secretary-general Muhammad Shaani Abdullah agreed that the high cost of living was one of the contributory factors for the debts of civil servants.
"It is a myth that civil servants are spendthrifts and don't know how to manage money.
"The truth is that the civil servant's salary has not kept in tandem with the increase in the cost of living," he said."
For example, he said, about 30 years ago one could easily have a good breakfast for RM1.20, but today the same breakfast cost five times more.
However, at the same time, the civil servant's salary had not increased by the same proportion.
Muhammad said that if the government was unable to increase salaries, it could assist these civil servants in many other ways to cope with the rising cost of living.
Some of the areas where it could help were to improve the public transportation system to make it affordable and reliable, provide better medical facilities and more scholarships, open special cooperatives, offer soft loans for housing and other needs and give discounts for utilities. - Bernama

Huan of Gerakan, be a man lah

Just could not stand this type of man. No balls at all. Pay a lot of respects to Dr Toh Kin Woon. He is a real man. So the party lose a man and gain a pondan.

So Gerakan has the men in it who has no balls. Sick.

PETALING JAYA: Gerakan vice-president Huan Cheng Guan, who has been suspended for three years, said he will not join any opposition party even if he were to quit his party.
He however criticised the party’s decision to suspend him.
Gerakan’s central working committee (CWC) decided on the suspension last Friday for what it said were Huan’s open attacks against the party and its leadership.
Huan claimed he was not given a chance to defend himself because he was not asked to attend the CWC meeting, and neither was he informed about his suspension until he received a letter from the party’s secretary-general Teng Chang Yeow on Saturday morning.
On May 29, Huan had told the media that he would quit the party in three weeks, citing disillusionment with the leadership for refusing to heed the lessons from losing Penang to the DAP in the general election last year.
The CWC gave him two weeks to reply to a show-cause letter dated June 1, demanding an explanation for his outburst.
On June 15, Huan said he would remain in the party and was willing to face the consequences for expressing his earlier intention to quit and perhaps join a Chinese-based party that is being registered.

good, suspend all maids to malaysia

It is delighted that the Indonesian government is willing to stop sending maids to Malaysia, don't come here, the government of Malaysia is openly exploiting the maids. Boost your country ecnomy if you can.

Malaysia government is not able to provide a minimun wage, do you think they can protect the maids ?

Those who employ the maids, mostly not all though , are pure lazy people and most of them did not employ maids but workers who are of slavery.

Stop all maids Malaysia.

Let the local maid do it.

JAKARTA: Indonesia may temporarily stop sending domestic helpers to Malaysia after an Indonesian maid was recently reported to have been tortured, Indonesia's Antara news agency reported.
"We will likely stop it (dispatch of domestic helpers) temporarily. But we will first invite relevant ministers and parties to a meeting on June 23 to make a preliminary evaluation," Antara quoted Manpower and Transmigration Minister Erman Suparno as saying here on Thursday.
Among those to be invited to the meeting were the state minister for women's empowerment, the foreign minister, the law and human rights minister, the home affairs minister, the national police chief and the Indonesian ambassador to Malaysia as well as Malaysian representatives, he said.
As the decision to be taken at the meeting would have a systemic impact, his ministry could not decide on the dispatch of domestic helpers on its own without the input from other parties, he said.
"But I want it (the dispatch of domestic helpers) stopped until there is a response from the Malaysian government on protection of Indonesian migrant workers there," he said.
The plan to temporarily stop the dispatch of domestic helpers was the government's response to a myriad of problems being faced by Indonesian workers in Malaysia.
One of the latest of such problems arose from an incident befalling domestic helper Siti Hajar who came from Limbangan, Garut, West Java.
Suparno had earlier said delegations from the two countries were scheduled to hold talks on July 15 to discuss various problems facing Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia.
At the meeting, the Indonesian delegation would propose reviewing several clauses in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the manpower field both sides signed early this year.
The clauses, among others, relate to protection of Indonesian migrant workers and their rights as well as improvement of their salaries.
"If no agreement on the protection of Indonesian migrant workers is reached, we will consider putting a temporary stop to the dispatch of domestic helpers," the minister said.
He said he discussed the protection of migrant workers with Malaysian Minister of Human Resources Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam early this month when they attended the 98th International Labour Conference in Geneva. - Bernama

PKR councillors boycott swearing-in of MPSP president
By ZULKIFLY MOHAMED
BUTTERWORTH: Citing betrayal by the state government, eight of the nine PKR Seberang Prai municipal councillors boycotted the swearing-in ceremony of the new council president Mokhtar Mohd Jait.
This was a slap in the face of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng who was present at the function together with newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister II Mansor Othman.
PKR whip Johari Kassim said the post should have been allocated to PKR candidate.
“The state government has betrayed us by appointing Mokhtar who is former Seberang Prai Utara district officer,” he told newsmen before Mokhtar was sworn in at the council’s headquarters in Bandar Perda.
Johari who is also state PKR liaison committee member said they had been lobbying for the post from the day the Pakatan Rakyat state government was formed after the general election last year.
“We are not happy because we were promised the post,” he said.
The sole PKR councillor present at the ceremony was Farid Arshad, the party’s Bagan division chairman.
There are 24 councillors in MPSP including 10 from DAP, PAS (two), NGOs (three) and the rest from PKR.
It was reported that several names from PKR had been speculated to fill up the post including Mansor before he contested the Penanti by-election.
Dr Mansor said he would raise the issue of missing councillors at the state liaison committee meeting.
Lim told newsmen said it was a PKR internal matter and he would leave it to the party to resolve it.
He said the appointment of Mokhtar as council president was announced by Mansor himself.
“You should go and ask the two PKR state executive councillors (Abdul Malik Abul Kassim and Law Choo Kiang) about the appointment.
“Don’t act as if you are a state executive councillor if you are not one,” he said referring to Johari.
State Local Government and Traffic Management committee chairman Chow Chow Kon Yeow said there was a meeting within Pakatan Rakyat over who should be appointed as presidents of the two municipal councils in Penang.
But there was no decision, he said.

This has been a long overdue issue. The people are suffering like hell and of course, part of the problem the borrowwers have to shoulder it. Why so greedy?

Be transparent in PSD schlarship award

Just cannot imagine the DPM of a country called Malaysia is so 'well' educated. If he knows the unfairness of the matri students compare to the SPM, then should stop the matric course. Let it be fair to all. Now the question is the matric students do not sit for STPM, what say you DPM ? Are you doing your homework ? Should the rakyat send you back to school to study?

Thus, there is not such thing as fairness to the STPM or SPM high achievers.

Well, much is said, the best part, as Malaysia is a highly techonology country, MSC country, list all the scholarship holders on the net. Let the public public screen it. Look at the country down south http://www.pscscholarships.gov.sg/SCHOLARS_SPEAK/SCHOLARS.htm

So, now it is time to consider our government, nope, should be the politicians, like the DPM,how he could lead a country, thinking Malaysians, the rakyat living on the trees.

Limit on SPM subjects considered
By DHARMENDER SINGH and KAREN CHAPMAN
PUTRAJAYA: Students sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination may not be allowed to take as many subjects as they like in future to make the scholarship selection process fairer.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Government might limit the number of subjects taken by students in the SPM for fairer Public Service Department (PSD) scholarship selection.
Muhyiddin said the idea was raised as students in fully residential schools were only allowed to take a maximum of nine subjects and those in rural areas too had to take fewer subjects due to a lack of facilities.
“The students at residential schools are among the creme de la creme and they would become disadvantaged compared to students in other schools which could take many subjects,” he told a press conference after meeting with Puteri Umno leaders at his office here yesterday.
Muhyiddin said there was no restriction on the number of subjects students from other government schools could take.
Under the SPM open certificate introduced in 2000, students have to take six core subjects – Bahasa Melayu, English, Islamic Education or Moral Studies, History, Mathematics and Science – and any other elective subjects as long as there is no clash in the timetable.
SMKA Yan student Azali Azlan set a new record in 2007 by obtaining 21 As (20 A1s and 1 A2) in the SPM, beating the record set by former SMK Ulu Tiram student Nur Amalina Che Bakri, who scored 17 1As in 2004.
This year, three students obtained 16 1As, two obtained 15 1As while six scored 14 1As.
Asked if the issue on the PSD scholarships was discussed at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Muhyiddin said it was raised twice before it was decided that a special meeting to be chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Monday would be the best platform to discuss the issue.
He said he was unsure if any of the decision at the special meeting would apply to the current batch of PSD scholarship applicants or only to future ones.
He said that when students from residential or rural schools who scored nine As were given PSD scholarships those who scored a higher number of As in other schools became displeased, but not selecting those from the first two categories would be unfair as they could not take more subjects even if they wanted to.
