Just could not understand the South Africans are so proud of her diversity.
Ya, it is good to have diversity and this would bring in more colourful lives. But, if it is going to bring in 11 translators for an event, i don't think it is going to be colourful or fun.
Please read:
The country's Constitution guarantees equal status to 11 official languages to cater for the country's diverse peoples and their cultures. These are:
Afrikaans
English
IsiNdebele
IsiXhosa
IsiZulu
Sepedi
Sesotho
Setswana
SiSwati
Tshivenda
Xitsonga
Well, there are more in the constitution.
Soon, the least tribal language will be vanished due to the non recognised by the government.
South Africa should go Esperanto. She should take Esperanto as the common language without subdue to pressure by the dominance forces.
Now this poor country has to waste more time in translation, paper and the unity of the people is the main cause due to the different languages spoken.
If anyone is smart enough, he/she would not agree to have the 11 languages as official language. A speech of 30 minutes would eventually taken up few hours for the translation.
South Africa, go Esperanto
