Swimming is a hobby for the rich people in Malaysia

Where one can find swimming pools in Malaysia?

Of course in the hotel, a small size, maybe not even a half Olympic size pool. Next, the condominium for the rich people.

Even the Malaysia Swimming Pool Association has no data for you to know how many swimming pools in Malaysia.

The rich people are not only having the swimming pools at the place of living, they are also the members of the clubs and associations, even the swimming association like the Penang Chinese Swimming Club.

The government maintaining pools can be counted by your ten fingers. Why the government cannot maintain a swimming pool well ? Why must it be privatized or contracted out to private companies?

Of course, maintaining the swimming for the public is not easy. The staff in the Majlis Bandaraya as if not using the creative thinking skill. As a simple formula, let us tell the staff, if they could not manage the swimming pool well and making profit, they have to pack and go, on the other hand, if they could manage the pool well and there is a profit making, they would get more bonuses.

How would the scenario be ?

Now, let us look at the swimming pools in Penang state. Most of the pools are privately owned. As far as we know, there are only four swimming pools which are managed by the City Council in Penang Island and Seberang Perai. One in Penang island and three in Seberang Perai. Please update us if we missed out others.

1. Relau Swimming Pool,in Penang Island

2. Kompleks Sukan MBSP, Jalan Betek (Betik)

3. Public Swimming Pool, Seberang Jaya, as was told that it is under revonation and is currently closed. But the information from the MBSP is not updated.

Some people said that the pool is contracted to a private company. In short, the fee rate would be high.

4. Kolam Renang MBSP, Kg Benggali, which has contracted out to private company.

There are few private swimming pools which open to the public but with high fee collection, Permata Sports Complex. Look at the rate of entrance fee for each pool mentioned above.

Under private management of state council pools:

Kolam Renang Relau, adult RM7, senior citizen and OKU RM3.50 ( 50% discount)

Kolam Renang MPSP Kg Benggali, RM3 for all, no senior citizen fare neither for the OKU.

Kolan Renang Kompleks Sukan MBSP, Jalan Betik, RM3 for adults, RM1.5 for children, free for senior citizen and OKU.

Kolam Renang Seberang Jaya before was similar to the Kolam Renang MBSP Jalan Betek.

Permata is collecting RM7 for all, no senior citizen and OKU fare rate.

RM7 to a M40 group is nothing. RM3 for the rich middle class (not rich people, as rich people won't come to government pools) is nothing too. But for the poor people, senior citizens, OKU would be a burden if they would like to take up the swimming, as swimming is the best exercise, you can find it on the web, and we would continue to research into this. Few more articles would be published later.

It might raise to higher fare rate as there is no control price for the private company.

The very immediate question, why the government of Penang state could not manage the swimming pools well?

The state could have 1.8 billion reserve fund. Going for money is vital, the health of the people should not be ignored.

Here is the list of videos you can watch to see how swimming is the best exercise but the weak management of government is slowly taking away the benefits for the poor to the rich only.
