Malay cultures

i was saddened after reading the post at malaysiakini.com

According to my grandpa, he used to enjoy a lots of Malay festival seasons, which were not tailored to the religion--Islam. He said the Malays in the kampong celebrate it and sent in the kuih to the neighbour.Of course in return the other races of neighbour would return the courtesy.

But now i don;t have the chance to see the tarian at night of the festival of the Malay. Someone told me i have to go to the Hilir Perak, there are 9 tribes of Malay, they still carry on the festival of bangsa in a small scale like playing games and food of course, songs of the bangsa.

Of course i don't know where they are.

But sad that the Malays are too occupied with the religion that they are forced upon, once borne with it, you cannot change it and they have forgotten their own bangsa festival.

But someone said the religious does not allow it. How can a religous be taking away the bangsa rites??

Biar mati jangan lupakan adat. I still remember this phrase when my cikgu Mariam taught us karangan.

Well, TIM ( this is Malaysia),we have to accept the TIM.

All one needs to do to win over the Malays is to convert to Islam, have a Malay name, start speaking impeccable Malay and act according to their customs and walla! one can be one of them. But what the Malays forget is that these kind of individuals will do the same if some other race is in power. Therefore simply put, they are nothing but opportunist. If the Malays support this kind of individuals, who are just too shy to admit their roots, then it will be a detriment to the advancement of the Malays because all it would take for the non is to convert and he can then even become the PM because he would then have that ever so important "bin" in his name. Just think of what would happen to the Malays if the Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Nepalis, Africans and all other who are not of Malay race do the same? The malays will eventually go back to square one " iaitu balik ke dalam belunggu penjajah". That is the reason why Malaysia is a haven to many but as usual we the locals don't realize it.
