A good article and very profound thought. However, the writer missed a very important point of every day life.
The ASEAN was set up 45 years ago and only a fraction of people can access to it. Who are the people. Someone like the writer. The others would have to wait for generations, even that, it might not be able to free themselves for that.
Taking the fact from Malaysia, bagaimana, kaum orang asli dapat membebas diri sendiri dari pendidikan ? Bagaimana kaum Melayu di kampung, kaum India di kampung dan juga kaum Cina di kampung dapat maklumat kalau Bahasa Inggeris terus jadi bahasa utama di ASEAN?
With the language and the control of the social wealth, the lower class people will never be able to get into the Parliement to say a word.
With the limited resources within the poor communities, they cannot never have the equal right in the social resources.
Many missed a point, no, it is they purposely do it to control the social wealth and keep it for themseves and the same ruling class.
Be open and be equal right to contest openly.
If the writer wants to free the people and make ASEAN countries stronger, he/she should suggest to the education ministries in ASEAN to implement Esperanto language as a communal lingua franca.
You may not see the equal right in any society if the English, the imperialsim is still there at the door.
Besides, Esperanto has such a good effect on the younger generations.
