We have talked about the bad school academic time table. We follow the colonial system and worse is for the rich to use the December for holiday in the cold European countries, mainly United Kingdom.

The Malaysia monsoon rain starts in November and ends in March. But our SPM examination begins in Mid November to Mid December. Year in and year out, the pupils especial in east coast in peninsula Malaya, also Sabah and Sarawak are facing the flooding problem.

The weather in Malaysia is characterized by two monsoon regimes, namely the Southwest Monsoon that starts from late May to September, and the Northeast Monsoon from November to March. https://www.met.gov.my/en/pendidikan/fenomena-cuaca/

If we could change our mind and look at the weather system, alter the academic year, it would solve all the problems. Why must it be starting new academic year in January ? Search for Thailand and Indonesia, you have idea.

In the seasonal countries, they follow the seasons, summer is hot, they have holidays and begin the academic year in autumn, which is colder.

In Malaysia, we should begin the academic year in May, which the SPM should be held at the end of monsoon season, causing nothing disruption to the pupils and teachers.

Here it goes as a sugestion:

May to July, short break, end of July to November, short break, December to February, short break, end of February to March, short break, SPM is held in the end of March to April.

In 2023, the new academic year begins in March, and 2024, the new academic can be started in May.

We are waiting for the change in the Anwar administration era. How we can save the cost for the pupils as well as for the government.

Here we keep our fingers crossed.

Our part 2 and others are from the past articles including this one. It is nothing new to the faithful followers of this blog.
