Similarly, the doctors on strike, they are demanding for taking in as the permanent staff in government medical sector. The counting of the cost, including the pension would come to billion ringgit.
As we have said before, pension scheme from the British colonial system is bad for Malaysia.
The government servants especially in the internet age, is too redundant now. Most of the work in the office is place online, the consultation of medical doctor can be going by online too. This kind of telemedicine system needed some changes in the laws.
How many Malaysians are thinking of prevention is better than cure. They know of course, they prefer to ignore it as the medical leave for them is stated in the company benefits.
The MMA has agreed on EPF contribution for the contract medical doctors for permanent posts.
KUALA LUMPUR: The health ministry may consider offering permanent positions to contract doctors without pension benefits, provided that they are replaced with contributions to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).
Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) president Dr Muruga Raj Rajathurai said the association had, in fact, previously proposed the idea of permanent positions with EPF during negotiations with the Health Ministry in 2019.
If there were no pension scheme for the medical doctors, they would be going on demand for strike or whatever action. All have the similar benefits, EPF contribution. They can leave the medical sector anytime they want. The medical doctors can join the medical field with love later too.
